Note: Standings as of 22 September 1991 – Two matches between Liverpool Tigers and Enfield Spartans still outstanding. If Enfield won both, as expected, it would mean a playoff between Nottingham and Enfield for a place in the Final against London Athletics.

Report

London Athletics won the British Baseball Federation National League pennant in 1991, with Humberside Mets’ Rich Villa – Mr. Dedication – throwing the first No-Hitter in BBF National League history on 1 September 1991 against Enfield Spartans, perhaps the second best team in the League. The No-Hitter was pitched at the first Baseball Centre of excellence in Britain in Hull.

Rich Villa is originally from Chicago, and attended Lewis University, before trying out for a few Major League Baseball organisations, and despite failing to get a contract, still followed his dream to Britain.
