Audrey Garland Irish-born Gladiators Contestant 1997

Report

Audrey Garland, from Glasnevin in Dublin, entered the Gladiators ITV Combat Show in 1997. Against 24,000 contestants she recovered from the pummeling she got in the first round, to make it all they way to the Semi-Finals, which were shown on ITV, where she survived to win the Final, defeating all opponents.

She also competed in 1999, reaching Heat 2.

Gladiating is a fun version of the ancient Roman military combat as was seen on US and British TV Programs from the 1990s onwards.

Various types of combat or adventure-like tasks are engaged in by teams of players.
